I am getting  many questions from readers and from many other people, on How to get Ideas to design a logo. So, I thought to write an article on this topic. First of all there isn’t any secret on Designing a logo. It just depends on your creativity and skills.

Whenever I get logo design order, I simply ask some questions regarding the business, the audience of that Business. What is the use of asking this, the answer is simple. It gives ideas to design a logo according to the audience.

OK, these all things are outdated as many of the articles available on these things. But today I am going to explain you my ideas to design a logo.

What to do when we got the client:

OK, so you got the client. But believe me the toughest part on designing a logo is from where to start, isn’t it? So how to overcome this situation.

Look at the name of the business or logo, For example, my recent client was uniqueonlinetips.com. The owner of the blog asked me to design a logo. He briefly gave me the detail, like he wanted the logo to be matched with the website. The font should be bold and blah blah.

What I did:

The very first thing to do is start playing with letters, I never go for icon at the first sight. Yes you have to move to icon, if there is no chance with the text. I simply start thinking that, how do I make it more attractive by doing some tweaks in the text. Ohh god, I didn’t find any ideas with the text. So, what?

Move to icon:

Then I started playing with the icon, but remember again we have to make it attractive. It should not be just an icon. So after thinking a lot, I got an amazing idea with the icon, Have a look:

So, what creativity you found in this icon? OK let me tell you. There are three alphabets combined or what we say mixed in the icon. It is U, T and O. That means Unique tips online. So, this icon is perfect for the logo and it reflects the creativity.

What if you didn’t find any creativity in the icon?

Ok, what to do, if we didn’t find any creativity with the icon. Then once again start thinking about the audience of the business and start designing the icon according to the audience. Let’s take an example my another client androidquark. I did the same with this logo, but didn’t find much interesting with text and icon. So I decided to create a simple mascot of android, which should be unique. Have a look

I am sure you haven’t seen this type of android mascot in any other logo. Yes, of course there are lots of android icons out there. But think to make it unique by adding some thing different.

Things to do before start designing a logo:

Yes of course you need to think about the logo before start designing it. But there are some other things to do.

• After getting a logo design client, stop thinking anything about the logo and move away for some time. Yes, this works for me many time because, it refreshes my mind.
• Take a dark chocolate to refresh your mind and get some cool ideas.
• Start sketching the concept of the logo.
• Search image on Google to find what other logos are and how to be unique from them.
• Talk to the client first about the concept.

What if I didn’t find any concept?

Hmmm, this is the toughest part in your designing career. The only thing you can do is reject the client, if you are not suitable for the order. Remember don’t simply do the job, but be satisfied with the job. Also, you can hire another logo designer to complete the design.
