Add Glossy and Bevel effects to text in CorelDraw

This tutorial is for the beginners of CorelDraw. In this tutorial I’ll teach you how to add glossy and bevel effects to text in CorelDraw. Here I’ll use two effects. The first one is Glossy effect and the second is Bevel effect. Yeah, you can give these effects in CorelDraw also. Now you don’t have to go to Photoshop for these effects.

Recommended: Glossy text effect in simple steps( In Photoshop )

Tutorial Details:

Program: Corel Draw X4 (You can use other version also)

Difficulty Level: Easy

Completion Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1:

First of all open your CorelDraw program. Create a new file. Set the paper size to A4 and change it to landscape view.

Step 2:

Click on the text tool in the tool box. Click and drag cursor. And type anything you want. Here I am typing Mashdesigning. Select the text using pick tool. Set the font style and font size of your like from the property bar.

Color the text with any color you want. Here I am using Cyan. After doing everything you’ll get like this:

Step 3:

First we’ll give glossy effect. For that select the text. And press + on your keyboard to duplicate it. Give white color to the duplicated part from color box. Select the white text and go to Arrange–> Convert To Curves. Or simply press Ctrl + Q on the keyboard. Now click on the Transparency Tool in the tool box. After that click on the text and drag like below:

You can set it of your choice too.

Step 4:

Click on the pick tool and go to rectangle tool in the tool box. And create a rectangle on the text (size should be same as that of text). Select the rectangle using pick tool. And press Ctrl + Q. We did it to shape the rectangle. Now go to Shape tool in the tool box. And shape it like below:

Step 5:

Color the rectangle with any color. Click on the rectangle using pick tool. Press Shift on the keyboard and click on the duplicated text (We did it to select both at the  same time). Now you’ll see some buttons on the property bar. Click on the Back Minus Front Button.

After clicking on it you’ll get something like this:

Yeah guys, we’ve done with the glossy effect. Now it’s time for bevel effect which is very easy and short.

Step 6:

Select the bottom text (which is the main text) and go to Arrange–> Convert To Curves (or press Ctrl + Q). After that Go to Effects–> Bevel. And bevel property bar will come at right side. Set the values like below:

And click Apply. You can change the values according to your need. At last you’ll get this image:

So how was the article? In this way you can easily add glossy and bevel effects to text in CorelDraw. If you need any help then ask me, I’ll help you.

tried the tutorial. faced only one problem i wanted to give both words different color. everything was fine till glossy steps but when i applied the bevel effect both words turn to same color.

  5. Daniyal@facebookbook covers says:

how to give different color after applying bevel effect and how to save this design in jpg, bmp or jgep format ????

  6. Nikita Mishra says:

@daniyal we can apply bevel effect to only one color at a time. If you want different color then first ungroup the words and after that apply bevel to different words.
To save this design in different format go to File-> Export click on the save as type and change it to any format you want and hit Export.
